Our Services
Our services cover each stage of the design process, supported by a clear and practical approach to help guide your project from initial ideas through to build-ready information.

A full measured survey is the foundation of any successful architectural project. It involves accurately recording the existing property to create a reliable set of drawings that all design and planning work is based on.
At HAUSU+, we either carry out or coordinate a full measured survey of the property, ensuring that all key dimensions, layouts, and structural elements are captured correctly. This typically includes the preparation of existing floor plans, elevations, and, where required, sections.
The survey records critical information such as wall thicknesses, window and door positions, floor levels, ceiling heights, and overall building geometry. Where possible, additional site context is also noted, including boundaries, neighbouring relationships, and external features that may influence the design or planning process.
This stage is essential in avoiding errors later in the project. Inaccurate or incomplete information at the outset can lead to design issues, delays during planning, or complications during construction. By establishing a clear and precise base set of drawings, we ensure that all subsequent work is coordinated, consistent, and buildable.
Following the survey, the information is translated into a set of clear, scaled drawings suitable for use in design development, planning applications, and technical design. These drawings form the reference point for all future stages of the project.
Where required, we can also advise on more detailed surveys, such as topographical surveys or structural investigations, depending on the complexity of the site and nature of the proposed works. -
Navigating the planning process can be one of the most uncertain stages of a project. At HAUSU+, we provide clear and informed guidance to help you understand what is achievable and how best to move forward.
We begin by reviewing your brief alongside the specific constraints of the site, including local planning policies, site context, and any relevant design considerations such as conservation areas or listed building status. This early-stage assessment helps identify opportunities and potential risks before design work progresses too far.
Where appropriate, we can prepare and submit a pre-application enquiry to the local authority. This allows for early feedback from planning officers, helping to shape the design and improve the likelihood of a successful outcome.
Once a preferred design is agreed, we develop a coordinated planning package. This typically includes proposed plans, elevations, and sections, along with any supporting information required for submission, such as a Design and Access Statement where applicable.
Throughout this stage, we focus on producing well-considered, policy-aware proposals that respond to both the client’s brief and the expectations of the local authority. While planning approval cannot be guaranteed, a clear and informed approach significantly improves the chances of success.
We manage the submission process on your behalf and remain available to respond to any queries raised during the application period, ensuring the process is as smooth and straightforward as possible.

Construction drawings form the critical link between design intent and the physical build. At HAUSU+, we produce clear, coordinated technical drawing packages that enable projects to be accurately priced, approved, and constructed on site.
Following planning approval, we develop the design into a detailed set of construction drawings suitable for Building Regulations submission and construction. These drawings typically include fully dimensioned plans, elevations, sections, and key construction details, all prepared to ensure compliance with current UK Building Regulations.
Our approach focuses on buildability and coordination. We consider how the building will actually be constructed, ensuring that junctions, materials, and structural elements are clearly resolved. This reduces ambiguity on site, minimises the risk of errors, and supports a smoother construction process.
We work alongside consultants such as structural engineers and, where required, mechanical and electrical designers to ensure all aspects of the design are aligned. This coordinated approach helps avoid conflicts between different elements of the build and provides clarity for contractors.
The construction drawing package also forms the basis for obtaining accurate pricing from builders. A well-prepared set of drawings allows contractors to properly understand the scope of works, resulting in more reliable and comparable quotations.
While we provide a robust technical package, further detailing - such as interior specifications, finishes, and specialist systems - can be developed as required, depending on the level of detail needed for the project.

Why you may need TWO Principal Designers
If you are planning building work in England, legal changes to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, mean you must appoint two different Principal Designer Roles.
CDM Principal Designer (CDM PD)
What it is:
A legal duty under the CDM Regulations 2015
When it is required:
Any project involving building works (including renovations)
What they do:
Plan and coordinate health and safety in the design phase
Manage risks for construction and maintenance
Prepare CDM Designer risk assessments and appropriate drawings
Building Regulations Principal Designer (BR PD)
What it is:
A legal duty introduced by the updates to the Building Safety Act 2022
When it is required:
Any building works that would require Building Regulations Approval (including small domestic works).
What they do:
Coordinate design team compliance with Building Regulations
Ensure all aspects (structure, fire, access, energy, etc.) are designed in accordance with Building Regulations
Help the client meet their obligations under the Building Safety Act 2022
Prepare Building Regulations Compliance Assessments and Risk Assessments drawings
What this means for you:
As the client, you are legally required to appoint both roles in writing.
We undertake both roles and integrate them into the project
We handle the risk, compliance, and documentation across all phases
We keep the process efficient, safe, and legally compliant
